OUR STORY

A Culinary Journey from Soul to Table

I was born in Zambia, where the aroma of food was part of everyday life — not just in kitchens, but in the streets, in gatherings, in celebration. The story of Nowahala Kitchen began there, in childhood, playing chef with friends. Each of us brought something: beans, tomatoes, meat, charcoal. I always cooked the relish — and from a young age, I understood the magic of transforming ingredients into something that brought people together.

That passion stayed with me.

When I moved to England, my culinary world expanded. I discovered spices from India, umami from Japan, vibrancy from Thailand and other cultures. I explored and blended — experimenting in my own way. Cooking became my language, my comfort, my art.

And in every chapter, I was the one cooking — for family, for friends, for joy.

When I later moved to Spain, I felt a beautiful familiarity in the food. The boldness of flavours, the use of fire, the simplicity rooted in quality ingredients — it reminded me of Africa. And from there, my journey evolved into something broader. I mastered dishes from all parts of the continent, added Caribbean heat, infused European finesse, and honoured every place that’s shaped me.

Why “No Wahala”?

No Wahala is a Nigerian phrase meaning no problem. It’s a feeling, a rhythm, a way of cooking — relaxed, soulful, full of joy. Like “Hakuna Matata”, it reminds us that good food doesn’t have to be complicated. Even if you don’t know the recipe — no wahala. Just cook with your soul.

At Nowahala Kitchen, food is not just about feeding the body — it’s about feeding the spirit. We eat with intention. We heal with spice. We remember with flavour.

African cuisine has always held deep nourishment — not just culturally, but physically. Whether it’s a pepper soup that revives you when you’re unwell or a rich stew that brings the family together, every dish carries power, memory, and purpose.
